Developing and scaling fermentation processes, and the associated DSP, is a key “rite of passage” for most industrial biotech ventures. And whilst there are recurring themes in all scale-ups of new processes, there are also major differences depending on the industry segment, price points, product characteristics etc. And nowadays an increasing range of technology options, and indeed service providers, to consider. We will take a look at some of the options out there, what early ventures in particular need to implement scale-up, and how industry ecosystems can make the process less challenging.
