Lessons learned from advising startups and scaleups: What separates the winners?
Drawing on his experience advising founders, scaleups and investors across a wide range of growth journeys, Martin Lavesen shares legal and commercial observations on what distinguishes companies that successfully attract capital and scale. The session will explore the common mistakes founders make, what investors look for today, and why governance, ownership structures and scalability become increasingly important as companies grow.
Martin is Country Managing Partner of DLA Piper Denmark. He has nearly 30 years of experience advising Danish and international clients, particularly within life sciences and other technology-driven industries, with a focus on intellectual property, commercialisation, strategic partnerships, corporate structures and investment transactions.
In addition to his legal practice, Martin serves on the boards of a number of start-ups, growth companies and owner-managed businesses, giving him first-hand insight into the opportunities and challenges involved in scaling a business.
